Arrival is one of the most acclaimed science fiction movies in years, and we have Eric Heisserer to thank. The film – about a linguist who makes first contact with an alien species – was a passion project for the screenwriter, who adapted the script from the short story called Story of Your Life by Ted Chiang. And now, years after he began working on Arrival, he’s taking the next logical step by appearing on The B-Movies Podcast!
This week, film critic William Bibbiani takes you on a journey through the secrets of Arrival, by interviewing Eric Heisserer about the adaptation process and what changed as it moved from the page to the screen. We learn more about the unanswered questions of Arrival’s surprising finale, so be warned: SPOILERS lie ahead.
Eric Heisserer also takes you through some of his earlier motion picture credits, and explains what happened behind the scenes of the A Nightmare on Elm Street remake, the prequel to The Thing, and what he has in mind for Universal’s upcoming reboot of Van Helsing!
