Quentin Tarantino Wants Will Smith for ‘Django Unchained!’

Smith would go from the Wild Wild West to the Wild Wild Wild Wild Wild Wild Wild West.

Production is gearing up quickly on Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino's new slavery-themed western. The script was barely completed a week ago, and Christoph Waltz and Samuel L. Jackson are already reportedly up for big parts. Tarantino is also circling international distributors for the movie. And he's also got a star picked out: Will Smith, the most likable human in the history of everything ever ever.

Not that he's actually talked to Will Smith, necessarily. He's received the script but appearing in a Quentin Tarantino joint – particularly a hot button film with a reportedly liberal usage of the N-word – might clash with his wholesome image. Maybe so, Will… But do you know what doesn't clash with your image? Winning an Oscar. It's been five years since your last nomination, dude. Think about it.

Hollywood Reporter had the casting scoop, or rather speculation. It sounds like a great pairing to us, Smith and Tarantino, if they don't get caught up on a hitch.

Crave Online will be back with more Django Unchained news, hopefully before Independence Day.
