Born in New York City and raised in Wilton, Connecticut to Paula, a talent coordinator and Chris, an actor/comedian, Abigail Abby Elliott is a comedian best known for her four seasons on Saturday Night Live.
Her father, Chris Elliott, was also a comedian and was on the SNL cast in the mid-90s. Her grandfather, Bob Elliott, guested on the show in 1978 as half of the comedy due Bob & Ray (huffingtonpost.com).
As a child, Abby Elliott participated in school plays and musicals. After graduating from Immaculate High School, she attended Marymount Manhattan College, but dropped out during her first semester after her dormitory got infested with mice.

Abby took comedy classes at The Groundlings and performed sketches at the Upright Citizens Brigade in Los Angeles. Before landing on SNL, she did guest voice roles on King of the Hill and Minoriteam. She made her film debut in No Strings Attached and had a supporting role in High Road.
Abby Elliott said of her dad, My dad was so much fun growing up. It was just constant poop jokes from the moment I was born. He was great. But he was also a real dad who wasnt afraid to scold me or discipline me (vanityfair.com). In regards to him giving her career advice, Abby said, Its mostly been stuff like, You dont have to do this. Just take it easy. Thats basically his thing with me. Dont put the pressure on yourself. But I do anyway.
She admitted to Maxim that she has a million girl crushes and cant think of a single guy.
Abby Elliott was known for her impersonations of Angelina Jolie, Rachel Maddow, Khloe Kardasian and Zooey Deschanel.
It was announced that Abby Elliott would not return to Saturday Night Live. She told Elle, Its interesting. The week before [I found out I wasnt coming back] my NBC ID came off my key chain and I had this premonition. I took it as a sign, and Im not a sign person. Abby Elliott subsequently landed a multi-episode arc on How I Met Your Mother. She has also appeared in the film Fun Size.
Abby Elliott is working on a book and a couple of scripts. I dont know where theyll go. Theyre fun stuff that I would be in and are written in my voice, for me.
Regarding her taste in men, Abby said, A sense of humor is really important in a guy. I dont necessarily need to date a comedian though I have, and I probably will in the future.
