Her father Viktor Jekova worked as a head coach of the Bulgarian snowboard team. Alexandra Jekova took up the sport in part because of her father. He was the first Bulgarian to get involved. He bought equipment for her and took her with him as soon as she was old enough. Apparently, she loved the speed and loved to carve (sochi2014.com).
Aside from snowboarding, her interests include windsurfing, motocross, wakeboarding, badminton, tennis, climbing, surfing and biking. She trains in water sports, running, biking and weights. Her hero is Austrian snowboarder Doresia Krings.
When not training, Alexandra Jekova also has a joint initiative called “Amerfoot,” which supports children with impairment. She is single and resides in Bulgaria.
