Alison Jane Sweeny is an actress and host probably most famous for her long-running association with the daytime soap “Days of Our Lives,” though she has also hosted “The Biggest Loser.” She recently announced that after 21 years on the soap as “Sami Brady,” she is saying goodbye to the show.
Alison Sweeney is a Los Angeles native and made her TV debut when she was five for a Kodak advertisement. She also appeared in “Family Man,” “A Brand New Life,” and “Tales from the Darkside,” but it was her role on the NBC soap that made her a star.
Alison Sweeney actually took her co-star Bryan Dattilo to her senior prom. She later attended the University of California, Los Angeles as an evening undergraduate, where she took classes after work. A bit of trivia: she can speak Spanish fluently. She is also a long-time allergy sufferer.

During the 1990s, Alison Sweeney said she struggled with her weight and wrote about it in her memoir “All The Days of My Life (So Far).”
In 2007, she became the host of the show “The Biggest Loser.” In 2013, she wrote and released a novel “The Star Attraction.”
As for leaving the soap, Alison Sweeney said, “I’ve been on ‘Days of Our Lives’ since I was 16 years old, and I have never had more than a two-week vacation in that whole time. It’s been awesome. I love Sami. I love Salem. I love my job. I love daytime. I love the fans – I love everything about it.” She’s leaving to spend more time with her children. As for how the show will deal with her departure, she said, “I think Sami probably deserves some sort of very twisted like ‘Breading Bad’ ending.
Alison Sweeney is married to David Sanov (a California Highway Patrol officer) and they have two kids. They reside in Los Angeles.
