Cynthia Addai-Robinson grew up watching a lot of television and added she would love to be part of a musical. She performed as an actress in school plays and local productions. After she graduated high school, she attended NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She said, “I come from a family of really animated storytellers…I was a really shy child, but being on a stage – having that platform – gave me permission to be outgoing and loud.”
As for her part on “Spartacus,” she took sword training. Cynthia Addai-Robinson said, “I am not a rough and tumble sort of girl in real life, so it was truly an acting challenge. I like to think the boys are proud of turning a complete beginner into a sword-wielding ‘ladyiator.’”
As for being part of fantasy or sci-fi series, she said, “I was at Comic-Con last year and the fans were amazing. We work for months on end without any idea of what the response will be.”
Aside from acting, she loves interior design. “I like the idea that the way space is designed is another way of telling a story, and it can influence mood and productivity.” She also loves travel. “Being in another country and another culture is always eye-opening.” She added, “I’m a fan of being off the grid, whenever possible.”
Her advice was “if you really want to make a change, clean the clutter from your life to make room for new things!”
She called herself a “very private person” and said the activity she enjoys least is “being in a crowded bar with people I don’t like. Life is too short for that.”
Her biggest turn-off is “whistles and whispers. Those kind of things drive me nuts and they never work.”
Cynthia Addai-Robinson currently resides in Los Angeles.
