“Throughout high school, I was fairly boring. I didn’t do many rebellious things.”
Erin Moriarty filmed on location in Ohio for a “Toy’s House” and said, “It was almost like a foreign environment to me. I was playing this character that grew up in this suburban environment, which is the opposite of how I grew up.” She also worked with a snake on the film, which she described as “kind of scary.”
If she lived in the woods, “I would turn around and just go home. I need a certain level of hygiene. There are just certain things I just need.”
As for her role in “True Detective” she said, “It was fun to play a Goth because it’s the opposite of how I present myself, and it the opposite of any role I’d been considered for.”
Her favorite books include “The Things They Carried” by Tim O’Brien and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” and she credits a high school English teacher for feeding her passion for reading.
In the future, she would love to work with the Coen brothers and Terrence Malick. She added, “I love romantic comedies…but they have to be done right, but when they are, they’re great.” Erin Moriarty is currently single.
