Johanna Selhorst “Josie” Maran is a former American supermodel and actress probably best known for her appearances in Sports Illustrated from 2000 to 2002. She has been ranked highly in several “Sexiest” lists from over the years. She now runs her own cosmetic company.
Josie Maran is a mix of Polish, Russian, Dutch, French and German heritage and attended an all-girls school in Palo Alto, California. She dreamed of becoming a model ever since she saw Christy Turlington’s work for Maybelline. Josie described herself on Twitter as “Supermodel-turned Chief Eco Officer of Josie Maran Cosmetics. Come get your Luxury with a Conscience, baby!”
While she was still in high school, Josie Maran got into the modeling game after a scouting agent encouraged her to pursue modeling. Her first cover was for Glamour in 1998. Many other covers followed, including GQ, Maxim, FHM and Arena. A racy shoot with Sisley almost cost her the Maybelline International contract she’d always aspired to.

Aside from modeling, she appeared in the 2007 season of “Dancing with the Stars,” but she and her partner were the first to be eliminated.
Josie Maran has appeared in the street-racing video game “Need for Speed: Most Wanted,” as well as the Xbox game “Midnight Club: Los Angeles.”
She jumped to the silver screen with small parts in “The Aviator” and “Van Helsing,” but she landed a bigger part in “The Gravedancers.”
Most of her energy foes into her natural cosmetics products line. Josie Maran started the company when she was pregnant with her first daughter. She said, “When you’re ready to take on the world, great things can happen…all my life I had people telling me I couldn’t do it all and have it all. I couldn’t be a model because I’m short…if I’d listened to them, I wouldn’t be where I am.”
Josie Maran appears frequently on QVC and attributes her success that she’s comfortable in front of the camera, as well as the quality of the products.
In her love life, she had a long-term relationship with magician David Blaine.
Josie has two children, Rumi Joon Alborzi and Indi Joon Maran-Albrozi from her marriage to Iranian American photographer Ali Alborzi. Josie Maran and her family currently reside in Hollywood, California.
