Lydia Hearst

Born Lydia Marie Hearst-Shaw, but known professionally as Lydia Hearst, she is a fashion model and actress, probably best known for her role on Oxygen’s “The Face” modeling competition. If her last name seems familiar, it’s because Lydia is the daughter of heiress (and kidnapping victim) Patricia Campbell Hearst.

Bio

Lydia Hearst is now an heiress to the Hearst publishing fortune. You know, William Randolph Hearst, the guy who some say “Citizen Kane” is modeled after. Her father was her mother’s bodyguard before their marriage. He passed away in 2013.

Lydia Hearst grew up in Connecticut and attended Wilton High School and later Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Connecticut. She was majoring in communications technology when she was “discovered” by a photographer, which led to her first modeling gig on the cover of Italian Vogue.

Her life as a model took her to Europe. As for modeling, she said, “I love it. It’s a job just like any other, and what kind of girl growing up doesn’t want to be Barbie and doesn’t want to play dress-up every single day?” She also designed handbags for Puma.

As for her body, Lydia Hearst said, “After so many years of working in fashion…I had to learn…how to create an optical illusion where you’re more slender. I’m extremely petite everywhere – except for my T&A.”

A bit of trivia: for every runway, because her feet are so small, she had to SuperGlue her feet into her shoes. She is actually a natural blonde and only dyes her hair red; she admitted she is awful at taking selfies, and her indulgence is Carl’s Jr. “I can’t get enough.”

Lydia Hearst described herself on Twitter as “I am: weird, silly, serious, quiet, outgoing, wild, sweet, funny, kind, creative, but really, I’m just me.”

Lydia Hearst also acts and has appeared on “Gossip Girl,” and the in the films “Two Jacks” and “Crimson Tear.” She also wrote a column for the New York Post’s Page Six Magazine called “The Hearst Chronicles,” and apparently wrote the column at her desk, which once belonged to her great-grandfather. She said, “If there was anyone that I would want to meet…that would be him. [William Randolph Hearst] is my idol. He lived life, he never let anybody tell him no…he was unstoppable.”

Just don’t call her a socialite. “I am definitely not a socialite.” She added, “I am all business, I am all work. You have to take it seriously – this is a world that will eat you up and spit you out faster than you know what hit you.”

Aside from work, she practices meditation to remain calm. She prefers cooking at home instead of going out, and would rather hang out than go to parties. In 2012, she trained with a circus, learning hand balancing, trapeze and silks.

Lydia Hearst splits her time between Los Angeles and New York, and she is currently single.
