Melora Hardin is an American television and film actress. She is known best for portraying Jan Levenson on NBC's "The Office." She has also starred in such films as "Hannah Montana: The Movie" and "17 Again."
Born in Houston, Texas, Melora Diane Hardin was actually raised in San Francisco, California after her family moved there when she was 4 years old. She then eventually went on to attend Sarah Lawrence College in Bronxville, New York.
As an actress, Melora made her debut on the television series "Police Story" during a two-part episode before being cast as Cindy Prescott in "Thunder" the following year. Two years later, she made her film debut in "The North Avenue Irregulars." She continued taking guest roles on popular series such as "Little House on the Prairie" and "Magnum, P.I." for several years before starring as Frances 'Baby' Kellerman in the TV series adaptation of the popular film "Dirty Dancing" in 1988.
Until 2005 when she was cast as Michael Scott's boss, Jan, "The Office," Melora never really held a role that stood out among the rest, despite starring in over 40 television series and films in the interim. However, since then she has done some of her most noteworthy work in films such as "27 Dresses," "17 Again," and "Hannah Montana: The Movie."
Even though Melora is best known for her acting, she also holds a strong passion for singing/songwriting. She has even released several albums, including The Meloradrama in 2008 and All the Way to Mars in 2010.
As for her personal life, Melora has been married to actor/writer Gildart Jackson since 2007. Together, the couple have two daughters: Rory Jackson and Piper Quincey Jackson, born in 2001 and 2005, respectively.
