Sarah Chalke is a Canadian actress. She is best known for her roles as Dr. Elliot Reid on the television show, "scrubs," as well as the second actress to play the character of Becky on "Roseanne."
Sarah Louise Christine Chalke was born on August 27, 1976 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She was, however, raised in Vancouver along with an older sister named Natasha and a younger sister named Piper. Since her mother, Angela, was originally from Rostock, Germany, Sarah grew up attending a German school twice a week, which lead her to be able to speak the language fluently, along with learning the French language as well. Her multilingualism was even eventually incorporated into her "Scrubs" character years later. She eventually went on to graduate from Handsworth Secondary School in North Vancouver in 1994.
Like many actresses, Sarah began young by appearing in local theater productions at eight years old. It wasn't long after that she landed her first ever television acting role on the Canadian children's series, "KidZone," where she acted as one of the series' environmental reporters. Of course, her big break came in 1993 after actress Alicia Goranson quit her role as Becky on the television series, "Roseanne," in order to attend college full-time. Sarah was cast as her replacement, and continued to play the role until the show ended in 1997. From there, she continued to act in small television roles and series such as "Nothing Too Good for a Cowboy" before being cast as Eliot Reid on "Scrubs" in 2001, a role that drastically changed her career.
After "Scrubs" officially ended in 2010, Sarah has been able to maintain a very active career on television with guest roles on series such as "How I Met Your Mother" and "Cougar Town," as well as series regular roles on "Mad Love," "How to Live with Your Parents (For the Rest of Your Life)," and the Dan Harmon animated comedy, "Rick and Morty." She has also become engaged to lawyer, Jamie Afifi. The two had their first child, Charlie Rhodes Afifi, in December 2009.
