Shakur Sozahdah is a model, rapper and actress, but says she considers herself an entertainer above all else.
Shakur is from Los Angeles, California and is of East African descent. She is a popular urban model and has appeared in magazines such as King, XXL, Show and BlackMen. Shakur Sozahdah was also the lead actress in Drakes Best I Ever Had music video. Aside from music, she created and stared in an Internet series called Los Blancos with fellow model Rosa Acosta. Its a tale of two sisters who have taken on the responsibility of running their family-owned drug business.
Shakur Sozahdah says she started in the entertainment industry when she was about 13, doing commercials and print work, but her mother pulled her out because she wanted Shakur to focus on academics. Shakur graduated at 15 with scholarship to a university. She had a major in bio med and a minor in business. But she realized her passion was still in entertainment. Shakur Sozahdah has been studying film and theatrics under a private coach, as well as modeling, and being a rap artist.
Shakur Sozahdah says her sound is a good balance of hip-hop, pop, and London swag and its that diversity that makes it good ear candy. Every time I step into the studio, Im going for music that has a feel good vibe with global appeal. We have seven continents in this world, so why limit yourself to just one. There are so many people out there I can reach with music, so I definitely do not want to stipulate my growth. International is where its at! I dont think I sound like any female artist thats out there now.
Shakur Sozahdah added, Its a new soundits a new land. I try to show my unique twist on what I do and I exemplify it in my music.
Shakur Sozahdah hopes to flourish in what I do, learn from others, and create an empire. So many people fall off after a hit or two, but I want to create something substantial and use whatever status or fame I get to do something positive. I want to help people in any way I can and make a differencewhether its minute or miniscule, or something huge. I just want to keep the momentum going and never limit myself.
Shakur Sozahdah has a song out that was produced by Black Eyed Peas Will.i.am called Naddahoe.
