Shanola Hampton is a South Carolina-raised, Los Angeles actress. Her big break and current biggest success is her role as "V" on Showtime's William H. Macy-led family dramedy, "Shameless."
Shanola Hampton was born in Charleston, South Carolina in May of 1977 but grew up mostly in Summerville, South Carolina with her four sisters, raised by her parents, a car salesman and an IRS agent.
She attended Winthrop University for college where she earned her degree in theater, focusing specifically in performance theater. Shanola then went on to Illinois University in Champaign, Illinois to get her Masters Degree in Fine Arts. Shortly after, she got married in 2000, then moved to Los Angeles, California in 2001 and started picking up work in commercial spots.
Shortly after, Shanola nabbed her first guest appearance that same year on "Popular," Ryan Murphy's teen angst dramedy on The WB. She continued to pick up guest roles in television until 2005 when she was cast as the recurring character, Flash, on "Related." She resumed guest roles in 2006 until she picked up more regular work on "Miami Medical" as Nurse Graceffa in 2010.
But Shanola's big break came in 2011 when she landed the role of the busty next door neighbor, Veronica "V" Fisher on Showtime's remake of the popular British show "Shameless." Her character is known for shameless sex acts on screen across from her shameless spouse, Kevin, played by Steve Howey.
In 2014, Shanola gave birth to her first child, Cai, around the same time "Shameless" aired its fourth season. Now in its fifth season, she's starting to pick up film roles with two movies, "Forever" and "Worthy" set for 2015 release.
