She is also a guest judge on the UK version of “The X Factor.” Her full name is Tula Paulinea Contostavlos. She wrote on Twitter in 2013, “my attitude is based on how u treat me. Tulisa Contostavlos is a mix of Greek, Cypriot and Irish ancestry. She is also an only child. Her mother is from the band “Jeep” in the 80’s, and her father is from the band Mungo. Growing up, however, her parents separated, and Tulisa cared for her mother, who suffered from bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. “Mum would hear voices, have dramatic mood swings, or become child-like or withdrawn. I’d do my best to help her with cooking or cleaning, but there’s only so much a child can do.”
Tulisa said as a teenager she suffered from violence, depression, drug abuse, anorexia, bullying and financial difficulties, and two suicide attempts.
