Zoey Deutch is an American actress probably best known for her roles on “Ringer” and “The Suite Life on Deck.” She most recently appeared in the film “Vampire Academy.” She has been cast in the Gregg Allman biopic “Midnight Rider.” She is the daughter of 1980’s girl-next-door actress Lea Thompson.
Zoey Deutch is a mix of Russian and Polish Jewish descent, English, Scots-Irish and Dutch ancestry. She grew up on a Los Angeles farm with a near menagerie of animals.
She wrote on Twitter: “I don’t know. This whole thing stresses me out.” Her nickname is Zobo.
Growing up, Zoey Deutch was a dancer and was active in ballet, jazz and tap. She later attended the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. “In high school, I tried very hard to make everybody like me, which resulted in me being extremely unhappy and in a lot of pain. Therefore, the lesson I got from that was that I can’t make everybody happy.”
Zoey Deutch said aside from acting, she loves junking. “My mom passed on her obsession of all things antique or vintage. I love to go thrift store shopping or explore any sort of garage sale. Treasure hunting is a family passion.” She shared, “The one thing my family has shown me is that having a sense of humor is everything.”
She also gets through things therapeutically by drawing. “I’m not a writer. I’m not smart. I couldn’t possibly write my own story.”
Zoey Deutch said about “Vampire Academy”: “If you only gave me two options…I’d rather be a human because I feel like every single supernatural story is about how they were better off before and that’s too much of a burden.” She did three months of gym training and martial arts. “I worked throughout filming, as well, during lunch and on my day off. That was definitely a challenge…I definitely feel stronger and more able to protect myself.”
As for guys, she said, “I find humor to be the most attractive characteristic.” She added, “I think being able to really fall in love with someone is the craziest thing that could ever happen. You know, allowing yourself to really go there and really feel those things is extremely scary.”
When she’s not working, she said, “I’m a 45-year-old soccer mom at heart, really. I love yoga, hiking, cooking, painting…I’m such a homebody. I also have a lot of pets, so I just hang out with them.” Zoey Deutch resides in Los Angeles and is currently single.
