Not too shortly after, when she was just nine years old, her family moved to Canada, where she attended Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Newmarket, Ontario. After this, she went on to attain her BA in Fine Arts from York University, in Toronto. Zoie got her first taste of acting in front of a crowd as a teenager while participating in summer stock at The Red Barn Theatre in Sutton West, Ontario, Canada.
It was experiences such as this that lead her to the realm of professional acting. By 2002, she landed her first guest roles on the series "Odyssey 5" and the TV movie "The Scream Team." By 2010, Zoie had landed the role that would go on to shape her career in the form of Lauren on "Lost Girl." Along with winning several awards for her performance, including being chosen as "Girl on Top 2013" by E! Online, the character affected her personal life in many ways as well. Most notably, with Lauren being a lesbian on "Lost Girl" (not to mention being admired by fans because of it), it was much less of a shock when Zoie herself publicly announced her sexual orientation as lesbian at the 2014 Canadian Screen Awards. Since then, "Lost Girl" has ended, but Zoie's career is just getting started. She next took on the role of The Android on the series "Dark Matter" and life has been good ever since.
