I’m probably more of the exception than the rule when it comes to fans of Adult Swim’s Rick and Morty, but I was actually quite disappointed with Season 3. Perhaps it was the lack of any true standout episodes, but something just didn’t feel right. Even the Mr. Poopybutthole epilogue felt a bit forced — probably because it was just a rehash of the one they gave us the previous season.

Fans have convinced themselves that the final episode — which lacked any real punch as far as epic finales go — was actually just foreplay to a secret finale that will drop on Christmas, but reality might say something different.

Mr. Poopybutthole Secret Origins Revealed By Rick And Morty

Though far from a full episode, the bombshell that Adult Swim dropped on us today feels much more like an ending than what had come before. Plus, who would have thought this show could have such a sentimental side? You keep expecting something horrible to happen, and yet it never does (well, unless you like cats).

So what say you, loyal R&M viewers? Was this the closure you were looking for? Is there still more to come? Ooo wee, we sure hope so!
