Exclusive Video: Dengue Fever Explains The 'Mastadong'

To celebrate the increasingly-futile Record Store Day on April 16, Dengue Fever’s new album Cannibal Courtship will be available on limited edition vinyl three days before the CD street date. To help make the day even more special, guitarist Zac Holtzman hand-crafted five golden tickets that will be randomly inserted into Record Store Day vinyl of Cannibal Courtship.  The recipients of the golden tickets will be granted free entry to any headline show by the band through December 31, 2012.

Additionally, Zac took some time to explain, in detail, the “mastadong” – a guitar / chaipai dong veng (long-necked Cambodian guitar) hybrid instrument the band created. The uniquely cool instrument has been featured during the band’s live performance, and garnered a lot of interest among curious onlookers.

"We get a lot of questions at our shows asking what this instrument is, so we made this short video to explain things," Holtzman explained, which led to the video below:

Cannibal Courtship marks the band’s debut album on Fantasy Records/Concord Music Group and will be available everywhere April 19, 2011. Get a preview of some of the stand-out tracks from the album and hear the stories behind their creation in a new, behind-the-scenes video.
