Eminem is set to release an EP album with his new Shady Records artist, Royce Da 5'9 soon. Details of the project have come to light, as well as a phenomenal new track called "Fast Lane".
First things first – let's get our ears around this track that's been far too long in the waiting, a downright incredible showing from the paired MCs that leaves us frothing for more:
It's been over a decade since Eminem and Royce da 5'9" have recorded together as "Bad Meets Evil." Royce cameoed on Em’s The Slim Shady LP back in 1999, and we haven't seen the two pair up since then. At long last, the duo have reconvened and plotted out a brand new EP, due out this summer. D12 member Mr. Porter, who's produced tracks for Eminem and Royce previously, will produce, while Mobb Deep's Havoc, DJ Khalil and Bangladesh, among others, will also contribute to the EP. The project is expected to hit stores on June 14th.
Eminem confirmed the news and credited their recent time together in the studio for fueling the project.
"Royce and I started hanging out again, and inevitably that led us back into the studio," Eminem said in a statement. "At first, we were just seeing where it went without any real goal in mind, but the songs started to come together crazy, so here we are."
Royce also weighed in on how their studio time inevitably wound up turning into an EP.
"I'm excited to see this project come to fruition considering the long lapse in time between when we worked before and now," said Royce da 5'9". "We had a blast doing it and we just hope everyone enjoys it while we're working on the 'Monster' that will be the Slaughterhouse album. #TeamShady"
If this first track is any indication, we may just have Watch The Throne in our rearview mirrors before the wax is even dry, off on new musical adventures like this one.
