The 2011 Video Music Awards will take place on MTV this Sunday night at 9/8C, and music fans have at least one worthwhile reason to tune in to the one night a year when "Music Television" pays any attention to music itself: Jay-Z and Kanye West will be appearing at the event, and are expected to perform.
Most of the MTV crew and production team don't even know yet when they'll actually take the stage during the show, much less what they'll play. But the duo, whose Watch The Throne album has soared past gold in the week since its release, will be joining Lil Wayne, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Adele, and Chris Brown as performers on the show.
Additionally, there are tributes planned for both Amy Winehouse and Britney Spears.
The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards will take place at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The awards will be broadcast live tonight at 9 p.m. EST on MTV. Look for our full coverage tomorrow, of the one day MTV pretends to care about music each year.
