Former Crazy Town singer and "Celebrity Rehab" victim Shifty Shellshock is in a coma, according to reports. He's currently at an L.A. hospital's Intensive Care Unit, where he's been since last Thursday, and remains "completely unresponsive," according to TMZ.
The 37-year-old singer, born Seth Brooks Binzer, has a long history of drug abuse and addiction. He appeared on the reality television programs "Celebrity Rehab" 1 and 2 as well as "Sober House" 1 and 2.
Binzer was scheduled to appear in court for a pre-trial hearing this week following an arrest for cocaine possession on Feb. 12. Binzer's former Crazy Town bandmate Adam Goldstein (aka DJ AM) also struggled publicly with substance abuse, which led to his untimely death in 2009.
You'll notice I said "victim" in reference to "Celebrity Rehab" – this is, of course, due to the fact that Dr. Drew's ratings factory does pitifully little to actually help the troubled souls who take part in this program. Instead, the show opts to put cameras in their faces to produce volumes of endlessly parasitic content, often at the expense of their own well-being, derailing their potential recovery – a process that should never take place as a means of entertainment for millions of culture vultures.
