From Ontario to Alberta, huge music acts will be taking to their respective live stages in front of roaring crowds at some of the country's biggest music events this summer. Both the Ottawa Bluesfest and the Calgary Folk Music Festival have announced their line-up of performers.
Bands like LMFAO, K'naan, Nickelback, and Norah Jones will delight music lovers in the nation's capital region during Bluesfest, which runs July 4-15. The star-studded schedule doesn't stop there – also on the bill are varied acts from Snoop Dogg, Iron Maiden and John Mellencamp to Blue Rodeo, the Sheepdogs, Metric, Grimes, and City and Colour, who will all perform on one of eight stages. Tickets for Bluesfest go on sale this coming Saturday.
Meanwhile, in Calgary, the line-up for the Folk Music Festival came out and guests include crooner Chris Isaak, Beirut, Jeff Mangum, Randy Newman, Serena Ryder, and 100 Mile House. Running from July 26-29, more than 60 artists will be represented at the festival that takes place annually in Prince’s Island Park. A popular event for music aficionados, it's also one of the more eco-friendly events held in the country. As their official site points out, "We deeply value the natural environment and are committed to demonstrating the kind of environmental leadership that inspires Calgarians and other organizations to use the CFMF as a model for their own personal and organizational improvements. The CFMF has a long history of implementing initiatives to decrease our footprint." Tickets go on sale starting today, with four-day and single passes available.
