2K Games and Gearbox have finally revealed the previously hush-hush multiplayer modes of Duke Nukem Forever via the Official Xbox Magazine. And honestly, we don’t know what the big fuss was about. Picture any mode you’re ever played before in a multiplayer game and paste a bunch of Duke Nukem skins on all the characters. There you go. That’s Duke Nukem Forever’s multiplayer in a nutshell.
The specific game modes to be included are Dukematch, Team Dukematch, Capture the Babe (Capture the Flag) and Hail to the King (King of the Hill). As you can probably guess, Dukematch and Team Dukematch are deathmatch and team deathmatch, respectively. Teams will be broken into red shirts versus blue shirts. Not exactly rocket science.
Capture the Babe is really the only eye-catching mode included, and it has nothing to do with the actual gameplay. Instead, Capture the Babe lets you give a “reassuring” slap to the ass of your Babe when she starts to freak out. You smell that? It smells like controversy.
Duke Nukem Forever will launch with 10 maps out of the box. You can also expect a jetpack to show face in DNF multiplayer, as well as an experience point system that lets you customize your Duke. However, you cannot customize away his horribly out-dated flat-top crew cut.
