OK, this shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone with a brain nettled between two eyes (or one eye, my apologizes to the pirates and cyclops out there). The Mario franchise is coming to the Nintendo 3DS, as Nintendo President Satoru Iwata announced and showed off a quick glimpse of the title during his keynote speech at GDC today.
There isn’t much to report on, other than Mario 3DS is coming and we have some preliminary shots of the game, as well as a temp logo (seen above).
Mario 3DS, as it’s being called right now, is being developed by the same team that made Super Mario Galaxy 2, which is a major check in the win column. The temporary logo also hints at a return of the fabled raccoon suit from Super Mario Bros. 3. Double win!
Expect more on Mario 3DS at this year’s E3 in June.
