Check out some of the best beaches under the sun

You do not need to drop $1500 on a round trip ticket to the Caribbean to enjoy a comparable beach stateside. For a mix of world class beaches, stunning beauty, marine life, attractions, and “it” factor, look no further than our picks for the USA’s top beaches.

Hanalei Bay, Kauai, Hawaii

Its white sands are capped with one of the best backdrops in the country, with palm trees sweeping the parameter, a 4000 foot mountain range, and vivid marine and aquatic life. It is shaped like a half moon with a schizophrenic shoreline that has rough (north shore) and quiet spots (western shore) to balance surfing and water tackling alike. Check out Kauai Lagoons in Lihue/Kalapaki, host to a 40 acre wildlife sanctuary and the Niumalu Beach Park with its active camping scene.

Coronado Beach, San Diego

San Diego has arguably the best temperatures in the country. No wonder its home to a Top 5 beach, its sands accentuated with gold specks with a backdrop of restaurants, shops, live music, and for/rent cabanas. Its subtropical vegetation is also one of the best in the country.

Siesta Beach, Sarasota, Florida

Sarasota's Siesta Beach proudly claims the "whitest sand" in the world, consisting of 99% quartz (as opposed to coral), cool to the touch on hot days. It is just as accommodating as it is beautiful, with tennis courts, volleyball courts, and a 20 station fitness trail. Snorkel at the Point of Rocks on south Crescent Beach and seek relaxation on quieter Turtle Beach. There is also a Venice Beach California vibe with the Siesta Key Drum Circle, a troupe of drummers that play regularly alongside belly dancers for one of the beaches' top traditions.

Venice Beach, California

Venice Beach makes up for its lack of traditional beauty with arguably the most eccentric boardwalk scene in the country. This hippie enclave is the only boardwalk in the country to house a freak show, psychics, Henna tattoo artists, medical marijuana hole in the wall doctors' offices, Salvia dealers, and .99 cent hotdogs and pizzas. If you want eccentricity and a hard look into the carefree life, Venice Beach is the place to be.
