After months of anticipation, G4 has finally announced the premiere dates for the first two Marvel Anime series.
Beginning on Friday, July 29, G4 will air Iron Man and Wolverine back-to-back at 11PM. Both series will run for 12 half hour episodes each before giving way to two other Marvel Anime series, X-Men and Blade later this year.
The four Marvel Anime series were spearheaded by noted comic book writer Warren Ellis and produced by the Japanese animation studio, Madhouse; which gives the projects some authentic Anime credibility. Madhouse is also known as one of the best animation studios in Japan, with several hits under their belt including Ninja Scroll, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, Trigun and Di Gi Charat.
For the U.S. audience, two former stars from "Heroes" have been tapped to voice the lead characters. Adrian Pasdar (“Castle") will play Tony Stark in Iron Man, while his TV brother, Milo Ventimiglia (“Rocky Balboa”) will portray Wolverine.
G4 for has also released synopsizes for both Iron Man and Wolverine.
In an effort to make amends for his past in weapons manufacturing, Tony Stark has dedicated himself to building the world up rather than tearing it down. Traveling to Japan to build a new arc reactor that will deliver unlimited free energy to the Japanese people, Stark is challenged by the Japanese government and the media when he attempts to import the necessary nuclear priming device. When the nuclear reactor is repeatedly attacked by the mysterious Zodiac consortium, Stark must gather his allies to take on Zodiac and its mastermind.
Based on the popular graphic novel by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller, the series begins when Mariko, the love of Logan’s life, is forced back to Japan by her crime-lord father, Shingen. Logan vows to get her back at any cost. He is plunged into a chaotic world of corruption and violence, forcing him to team up with young assassin, Yukio, to battle their way through the Japanese criminal underworld.
