Coming out of a successful preview at Comic-Con International, most of the coverage surrounding "The Walking Dead" has been dominated by Frank Darabont's sudden removal from the showrunner position after persistent rumors of clashes between AMC and Darabont over the budget and other issues.
Lost in the ruckus of that news is the fact that over half of the episodes were filmed by the time of Darabont's departure and presumably the scripts for the second season were already finished. Original "Walking Dead" creator, Robert Kirkman remains on the show alongside a talented cast and crew. And in these newly released preview clips, Darabont, Kirkman and the rest remind us why we loved the first season, as they supply some effective chills in just 4 short eleven second clips for the second season.
The first clip comes back to a scene glimpsed at Comic-Con, as Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), his son, Carl (Chandler Riggs) and the rest of the survivors hide beneath cars to elude a zombie horde.
In the second clip, Andrea (Laurie Holden) gets reminded the hard way that she shouldn't go off on her own.
Rick and Glenn (Steven Yeun) share a tense moment in the third clip.
And finally, a group of zombies crowd a church in the final clip.
"The Walking Dead' will return for its second season on AMC on Sunday, October 16.
