The B-Movies Podcast has some apologizing to do with Episode #30 – Octavia Spencer, We Love You! Yes, this week's bout of film criticism is dedicated to beloved character actress Octavia Spencer, partially because we loved her in The Help, and partially because we repeatedly mixed up her real name with her character's in our 30th episode. We're sorry, Octavia. Besides making glaring faux pas, William 'Bibbs' Bibbiani, Film Editor at CraveOnline, and Witney Seibold of Three Cheers for Darkened Years also review Red State, Attack the Block, Norwegian Ninja and The Help, which some people are calling a life-affirming look at the horrors of racism and some think is a whitewashed, even offensive take on serious issues. Bibbs and Witney think there's a good argument on both sides, although as usual they focus on the negative. They'll also cover the latest movie news and whatnot, including Superman's lack of underwear, the rights to Akira Kurosawa's films getting new management, Mike Myers returning for Austin Powers 4, Ben Affleck's proposed first-person action movie, the Conan the Barbarian lawsuit and Pixar's recently-announced new slate of films.
PLUS! What is the worst movie sex scene of all time? Why is Witney legally (but not technically) a professor? Isn't every movie "based on a true story?" Should Pixar really make Herman's Head: The Movie? How would Bibbs build a better Mousetrap movie? Do we even have an Akira Kurosawa anymore? What if Scooter Libby was a ninja? Can you really achieve enlightenment through hot dogs? And does Kevin Smith toss poodles out his window to see if they can fly?
