To celebrate the start of the Call of Duty XP convention, Activision has released a brand new trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 that focuses on the game’s multiplayer component. You know, the part of the game that draws in the vast majority of players.

The trailer gives an explosive (quite literally) introduction to a number of new gadgets, gizmos and customizable loadouts seen in Modern Warfare 3. Personally, I'm a big fan of the bomb-defusing drone that also rocks a mini-gun on its head. That’s not excessive. Not at all.

People who are attending the Call of Duty XP event this weekend will be the first to go hands-on with Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer. So everything you see in the trailer above will be available to toy around with (we assume). If you’re a diehard Call of Duty fan, the above video probably just made you wet your pants. Don’t worry, this is a judge-free zone. Even we’ll admit the trailer makes us excited for the carnage-inducing possibilities of Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer.

In other Call of Duty-related news, Activision has finally revealed the price for the premium version of Call of Duty Elite. Players can hop into Call of Duty Elite's premium service for $49.99. Or, you can pick up the Hardened Edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and get a free year’s subscription to Call of Duty Elite. You’re choice.

This is actually a pretty sweet deal since being a member of Call of Duty Elite locks you into all future DLC packs for Modern Warfare 3. And since CoD map packs typically release for $15 a pop, you'll get your money's worth quickly. That doesn't even factor in all the premium video content Elite is planning to provide to hardcore Call of Duty players. So after all the speculation and preparing for the worst, Activision actually hits us with some good news there.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on November 8, 2011.
