It's important to remember that there are two, very different Anthony Hopkinses in the world: The Oscar-worthy Anthony Hopkins of The Silence of the Lambs, Remains of the Day and The Elephant Man and the "I Guess I'm Free Next Month, So Yeah, I'll Make Your Movie" Anthony Hopkins of Red Dragon, Bad Company and The Rite. To his credit, Hopkins never brings anything less than his "A" game to every movie, but he's such a hard-working actor that he doesn't always seem to hold out for the best material. In the upcoming serial killer thriller Solace, Hopkins will play a psychic who aids the FBI in tracking a serial killer. It sure as hell looks like we're getting the second Anthony Hopkins here, but looks can be deceiving.
Variety reports that Solace, which doesn't have a director yet, stems from a screenplay by TRON: Legacy producer Sean Bailey and Tower Heist writer Ted Griffin. So… the second Anthony Hopkins. But… it's been rewritten by Zodiac screenwriter James Vanderbilt and Frost/Nixon writer Peter Morgan. So… the first Anthony Hopkins. Confusing. Could go either way, we suppose. As always, we keep our fingers crossed, but we'll wait to see if the project attracts a high caliber director before we decide whether or not to get excited.
CraveOnline will return with more Solace news as soon as we find out what the hell "quantum" means.
