Thanks to an announcement made during their Tokyo Game Show press conference, Nintendo has revealed release dates for both Super Mario 3D Land and Mario Kart 7 for Nintendo 3DS. And as promised, both titles will be hitting the U.S. market before we ring in the new year.

Firstly, Super Mario 3D Land has been pegged for a November 13th release. That date plants Mario’s next three-dimensional adventure right in the thick of things between Uncharted 3, Modern Warfare 3, Skyrim, Halo Anniversary and Assassin’s Creed: Revelations. Sure, Super Mario 3D Land is a handheld title, these other game are not. But still, good god. So, good luck, little buddy. We’re pulling for you.

Then, on December 4th, Nintendo will release Mario Kart 7 for the 3DS. Also revealed in tandem with the announcement of an official release date were two new characters (Lakitu and Metal Mario), an optional first-person control method using the 3DS’s gyro sensor, and a trick system a la Mario Kart Wii.

Let’s hope Mario Kart 7 captures the same handheld magic that we experienced with Mario Kart DS, or as I like to call it: the best Mario Kart ever. Period.
