Viral Video Soccer Star Dies In Car Crash

United Arab Emirates rising star Theyab Awana has tragically died in a car crash.

The 21-year-old found internet fame when footage of his back-heeled penalty against Lebanon was posted onto YouTube. The video garnered over 1 million views, although it earned him a yellow card and a substitution by then UAE coach Srecko Katanec.

Awana also played for UAE club Bani Yas, and was killed while traveling back from training. The UAE’s football president Mohammed Khalfan al-Rumaithi said of the tragedy "I feel the loss of one of my family. I felt bitter tragedy. May the almighty bless him and may he rest in eternal peace."

President of the Asian Football Confederation also Zhang Jilong was also sympathetic in his statement:  "On behalf of AFC and the Asian football family, I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the UAE football community, family and friends of Awana. His demise at such a young age is a great loss to Asian and UAE football in particular."

Hundreds of fans from across the world are also offering their condolences on the video that gave Awana his viral video fame.
