Jak & Daxter HD Collection Inbound?

Yes! A thousand times yes!

If a product listing on the site BT Games (via Gematsu) is to be believed, there’s a Jak & Daxter HD Collection in the works. To this I say “Hell Yes!” The HD collection is listed with an estimated launch of January 2012.

If anyone follows my musings on a regular basis here on CraveOnline’s gaming channel, then you probably know how much I love Jak & Daxter. By "love" I really mean "unhealthy obsession." The PS2-era series is honestly one of my all-time favorite gaming franchises. As much as I love the Uncharted series, I would gladly set it aside after Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception for a new Jak & Daxter title running on PlayStation 3 tech. But while I hold my breath for that to happen, at least I might get an HD-remastering collection of the original trilogy to tide me over.

This December, the Jak & Daxter franchise celebrates its 10-year anniversary. This listing may have spoiled a surprise reveal which Sony and Naughty Dog were planning to announce to celebrate the occasion. With Sony’s recent obsession (not a bad obsession, mind you) with re-releasing their classic titles in high definition for PS3, the Jak & Daxter series seems like a logical next choice. It’s one of the only classic Sony franchises that has not yet received a HD collection. You know the saying: “save the best for last?”

Hopefully some great news comes of this awesome rumor shortly.
