Will Jason Statham Join ‘Fast Six’ and ‘Fast Seven?’

The next two films could shoot back-to-back next year, and might have a little Transporter action to boot.

Exciting news from the rumor mill today, or should that be exciting rumors from the news mill? Fast Five, which premiered on Blu-Ray in an excellent release today, has apparently not one but two sequels in the works, and in order to get them out in a timely manner (and hang on to what is now a sprawling cast of B-List stars), Universal is reportedly planning to shoot them back-to-back in Europe next year. More than that, it looks like they want to add yet another badass to their cast of other badasses: the Transporter himself, Jason Statham.

TwitchFilm filed the report, stating that Universal is "entering preliminary conversations" with Statham to appear in one or both of the upcoming Fast and the Furious sequels. No word yet on what character he might play, but seeing as the series has more than its fair share of heroes we suspect he'd appear as a new villain, or at least antagonist, for the original crew.

On a more serious note, how awesome would it be if the films were a legitimate crossover with the Transporter franchise? We know that would require a ton of legal wrangling with EuropaCorp and Canal+, which hold the Transporter rights, but wouldn't it be worth it? Imagine the entire Fast Five cast chasing Frank Martin across continental Europe for two whole movies… and salivate, because that would kick ass.

CraveOnline will be back with more Fast Six news, whether we win by an inch or a mile.
