Robert Rodi, writer of Thor & Loki: Blood Brothers, is taking on another character in that milieu – that of Sigurd Dragonsbane, Valhalla's greatest champion. Spinning off from Dynamite's Kirby: Genesis series, which is reviving a great deal of Jack "King" Kirby's creations, the Dragonsbane series will also feature art from Fritz Casas, along with covers from Dynamite mainstay Alex Ross and Jack Herbert.
Dragonsbane and his cohorts Balduur, Honir and Heimdall discover that all the mystical realms have been joined together to form the Mythlands, and they set out to explore their new environs, to rescue a princess and slay dragons.
"Dragonsbane is an exciting chance to take this vast assemblage of concepts and characters direct from the King's fertile imagination, throw them all together in a world both compellingly familiar and perilously new, and watch the sparks fly," Rodi says. "I'm no stranger to tackling subjects both legendary and epic, but this one has a wonderfully fresh and vital feeling to it. People often refer to the joy of playing in Kirby's 'sandbox'; well, this is a corner no one's played in before, and we're having the time of our lives building some seriously wild architecture there."
