Is Sigourney Weaver Really Coming Back for ‘Avatar 2?’

James Cameron doesn't want you to get your hopes up.

Some people still get excited about Avatar. We don't seem to know any of them personally, mind you, but apparently there are a lot of folks still frothing at the mouth to see Avatar 2 and 3. One such person is Sigourney Weaver, who has revealed already that her (dead) character from the first film will return for the sequels. James Cameron, on the other hand, isn't so sure…

In a recent interview with Vulture, Cameron spoke about the rumors of the Aliens star's return to the franchise. Quoth the Cameron: "Well, I don’t want to disabuse her of that fantasy. But have you ever heard of nonlinear storytelling? A lot happens on that planet before she shows up, and before Jake shows up to join her. She’s there for fifteen years ahead of time. I don’t know, but I wouldn’t jump to conclusions. And I’ve already said way too much about 'Avatar 2 and 3' here and there…!"

So she might turn up in a flashback, or via security cam footage or something. Well, maybe there's a chance for more…

"Okay, here’s the deal. When you have a science-fiction series, a science-fiction franchise, you’re never dead, unless your DNA is expunged from the universe. And then there’s always time travel!"

Dear god, please let the Avatar sequels devolve into time travel. Then maybe the fans will actually admit that it's full of plot holes.

CraveOnline will be back with more Avatar news, because we feel you.
