We're really trying very hard to avoid saying that The Crow is cursed, but what other explanation is there? The reboot of Alex Proyas' borderline-classic revenge fantasy has lost Stephen Norrington, Bradley Cooper and now apparently Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, leaving the project without either a star or a director to its name. That's nothing to crow about.
Twitch reports that Fresnadillo, the director of 28 Weeks Later, has exited The Crow, leaving the director's chair open for just about anybody. We could come up with a nice big list of directors well-suited for the task, but apparently Summit already has one in mind: F. Javier Gutierrez, the director of the award-winning 2008 Spanish film Before the Fall.
The question of whether or not we really need a new Crow movie has obviously yet to cross anyone's mind.
As for Fresnadillo, he may have found a new project already. Remember that Highlander remake? They need a director too…
CraveOnline will be back with more The Crow news the next time it's a good day to be a bad guy.
