Back in 2003, Carla Gugino starred as the title character in "Karen Sisko," who happened to be a U.S. Marshal created by novelist Elmore Leonard. And next year, Gugino will be revisiting her TV roots with Leonard.
TVLine is reporting that Gugino has been cast in a recurring role for the third season of "Justified;" which is also based on Leonard's original stories. Gugino will be portraying Karen Goodall, an assistant director of the U.S. Marshals based out of Washington D.C. who has a history with Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) from their time in Miami.
The report further reveals that Goodall has been divorced twice and that she comes to Kentucky to help protect witnesses after a U.S. Marshal is murdered.
Gugino made several of her first appearances on TV in the '80s with guest roles on "Alf," "Saved by the Bell," "Who's The Boss" and "The Wonder Years" before transitioning to more adult roles in "Spin City," "Chicago Hope" and the previously mentioned "Karen Sisco." Gugino also starred in the short-lived sci-fi series "Threshold" (pictured above) and she made memorable recurring turns on "Entourage" and "Californication." She has also co-starred in several films like "Snake Eyes," "Sin City," "Night at the Museum," "Watchmen," "Righteous Kill" and "Sucker Punch."
Also coming to "Justified" next season are Neal McDonough ("Desperate Housewives") and Mykelti Williamson ("24"). McDonough will play Quarles, a Detroit mobster attempting to build his own crime empire in Kentucky while Williamson will portray Limehouse, a resident of a small town in Harlan County who is willing to do whatever it takes to defend his home. Jeremy Davies will also return as Mags Bennett in a guest role, although he will be in jail after the events of the second season finale.
"Justified" will return to FX in early 2012.
