Nearly two years after "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" debut, the breakout hit is set to return in "Spartacus: Vengeance" this January on Starz.
With the tragic loss of leading man, Andy Whitfield, Liam McIntyre has stepped into the famous role of Spartacus, alongside returning cast members Peter Mensah, Lucy Lawless, Manu Bennett, Nick Tarabay and Dustin Clare.
Picking up almost immediately after the first season, Spartacus (Liam McIntyre) and his band of escaped gladiators are on the run from the Romans. But in this newly released preview, Spartacus graphically demonstrates exactly why he is so dangerous to his enemies. McIntyre offers a brief intro to the making of this scene, before the three minutes of NSFW action begin.
It gets pretty bloody, so don't say we didn't warn you.
Starz has also released a synopsis for "Spartacus: Vengeance" to set the stage for the story ahead.
On the heels of the bloody escape from the House of Batiatus that concluded "Spartacus: Blood and Sand", the gladiator rebellion continues and begins to strike fear into the heart of the Roman Republic in "Spartacus: Vengeance". Gaius Claudius Glaber and his Roman troops are sent to Capua to crush the growing band of freed slaves that Spartacus leads before it can inflict further damage.
Spartacus is presented the choice of satisfying his personal need for vengeance against the man that condemned his wife to slavery and eventual death or making the larger sacrifices necessary to keep his budding army from breaking apart. Containing all of the blood-soaked action, exotic sexuality, and villainy and heroism that has come to distinguish the series, the tale of Spartacus resumes in epic fashion.
Don't miss the debut of "Spartacus: Vengeance" on Friday, January 27 2012, only on Starz!
