The upcoming second season of "Game of Thrones" is easily one of the most anticipated TV events of 2012.

Based upon the second novel of George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, "A Clash of Kings;" the new season rejoins the newly crowned King of the North, Robb Stark (Richard Madden) as he finds that his conflict with the malevolent King Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) and the Lannister family has expanded to include Renly Baratheon (Gethin Anthony), Balon Greyjoy (Patrick Malahide) and the increasing fanatical Stannis Baratheon (Stephen Dillane). And in a War of Five Kings, there can be only one winner…

To promote the new season of "Game of Thrones," HBO has released two behind-the-scenes featurettes chronicling different aspects of the production. In the first, Location Manager, Robert Boake and executive producer, David Benioff speak about filming "Game of Thrones" in Belfast and Northern Ireland while offering a sneak peak at some of the location filming.

Michelle Fairley and Nikolaj Coster Waldau also weigh in on the topic as we see glimpses of Jamie Lannister's life as a captive of the Stark family.

In the second featurette, Stunt Supervisor, Paul Herbert; Assistant Stunt Coordinator, Dave Forman and Sword Master, C.C. Smiff discuss the challenges of creating the battles in "Game of Thrones." And while this preview doesn't show much in  the way of new footage, it does leave a tantalizing taste of what to expect in the second season.

"Game of Thrones" will return to HBO in April 2012.
