Next month, Showtime is set to debut "House of Lies," which will feature Don Cheadle's first starring role on TV and the return of "Veronica Mars" heroine, Kristen Bell to the small screen.
Based upon Martin Kihn's book, "House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Then Tell You the Time," Cheadle stars as Marty Kaan, an extremely successful and cut-throat consultant who has no problems using sometimes amoral tactics to get results for his clients. Bell portrays Jeannie Van Der Hooven, an up-and-coming colleague of Marty's who may soon give him serious competition from within. Ben Schwartz costars as Clyde Oberholt, Marty's best friend and associate; along with Josh Lawson as Doug Guggenheim, a Harvard educated coworker at their consulting company.
The pilot episode is called "Gods of Dangerous Financial;" and it was written by series creator Matthew Carnahan and directed by Stephen Hopkins. Showtime has released the entire first episode of "House of Lies" online as a special preview; with adult language bleeped out and some blurry bits covered. If you want to see the full uncensored show, you're going to have to wait until Sunday, January 08!
And for the benefit of those scrolling down, the synopsis of the first episode is below:
In the Season 1 premiere, Marty and The Pod travel to New York to consult for MetroCapital, a bank looking for a plan to unscrupulously justify their year-end bonuses as the financial world around them burns, but Marty makes an enemy of Greg Norbert, MetroCapital's number two executive. Back at home, Marty receives unwanted parenting advice from his live-in father Jeremiah when his son Roscoe decides to audition for the female lead in a school play.
