James Buchanan Barnes has been through a lot in his long-yet-short life. Hell, everything he's been through in just the past year of comics alone was enough to make him Iann Robinson's 2011 Character of the Year. Now, Ed Brubaker has him right where he wants him in Winter Soldier #1, debuting Bucky in his own ongoing comic starting this February.
When last we saw him, he'd discovered that there are a lot of other deadly Winter Soldiers out there as sleeper agents, waiting to be activated by nefarious puppet masters. Which means it's his responsibility to make sure they don't hurt as many people as he has in his own career as a Russian assassin. His ladyfriend, the Black Widow, is along for the journey, as she also knows a thing or two about ex-Soviet secret agents and general badassery Trouble is, apparently this disgraced former Captain America has trained all of these agents himself.
Even worse? Dr. Doom is involved.
