Tomb Raider Developers Prepare New IP

We should expect something completely new to be announced by Crystal Dynamics this year.

Crystal Dynamics, the makers of this year’s Tomb Raider reboot (among other things), are preparing to announce a brand-new IP. The cryptic, yet tantalizing news comes via a blog post by community manager Meagan Marie (discovered by VG247).

In the post, Marie says, “The New Year ushers in more than just fresh calendars and renewed resolutions. 2012 will prove to be a very exciting year for Crystal Dynamics, more so than any in recent memory.

"Not only will our team be eating, sleeping, and breathing Tomb Raider, but we'll also be hard at work preparing to reveal exciting new intellectual property to the world.”

Seeing as this is something new, we’re completely in the dark about what it could be or what pre-established franchises might be the inspiration for this new IP — if any. Apparently, news of a fresh IP from Crystal Dynamics has been circulating since this past March.

Tomb Raider will be releasing in fall 2012. If all goes according to plan, we’ll be hearing more about this new, mystery IP later this year.
