Kiefer Sutherland Drops ’24: The Movie’ Hints

Is this the end of the 24 story? Not according to Jack Bauer...

It became clear after a few seasons of 24 that the popular action-adventure series, about ass-kicking Counter Terrorist Unit agent Jack Bauer, was taking place in the future. We certainly got through a lot of presidents – some of whom actually served a full term, mind you – in the first five years of the show. So the timeline of the 24 movie, which is reportedly supposed to go into production this spring despite recent setbacks, could have been set years after the series finale of the series. Well, that's not the case according to Kiefer Sutherland, who revealed in the press conference for his new Fox series Touch this weekend that the movie takes place within six months of the show's final episode.

Our full coverage of the press conference goes up tomorrow, January 8, in CraveOnline's TV Channel, but for now we can quote Sutherland here in movie land. When asked if the 24 movie would conclude the Jack Bauer story, the star had this to say:

"I see it as a continuation. I think the script that we’ve got right now which I’m very, very excited about is relatively a direct continuation. We’re talking within six months from the end of that episode and we’ll see where it goes from there."

Fans of the show know that the series ended with Jack Bauer on the run from his own government. Apparently it takes us about six months to realize that we were lost without him. Our guess is we'll find out he was in Pakistan last May.

CraveOnline will be back with more 24 movie news as soon as our cell phones start working agai… Damn it!
