Remedy Entertainment, the creators of the Max Payne series, are not developing Max Payne 3. However, even if they aren’t behind the steering wheel, Remedy completely endorses what Rockstar is doing with the property in their absence.

While chatting with Kotaku during an Alan Wake’s American Nightmare preview event, Remedy’s head of franchise development, “Ozz” Hakkinen, told the site he is incredibly happy with what Rockstar is doing with the Max Payne franchise.

"We absolutely love what they've done and couldn't be more proud of where the series is headed," expressed Hakkinen. "I mean, they don't really make shitty games, do they? It's as if the Rockstar logo has become this, ‘Seal of quality.’”

Hakkinen, you are absolutely right. We’ll be the first to admit that Max Payne 3 didn’t blow us away when we saw it at NYCC this past year — it has something to do with the game’s linearity, which is not typically how Rockstar rolls — but, with that said, Rockstar rarely makes games that suck. In fact, they typically make really, really good games that help push our industry forward. While it’s too early to say the same for Max Payne 3, it does get the benefit of the doubt for the time being since it’s got that Rockstar "seal of approval" plastered on the front of the game's case.

With Remedy signing off on what Rockstar is doing with Max Payne 3, it makes us breathe a little easier. So, what say you, readers? Are you excited by what Rockstar is doing with the Max Payne series? Let us know in the comments below.
