As originally promised, EA Games and BioWare plan to release a demo for Mass Effect 3. Today, both companies announced the exact date you can get your hands on a taste of Mass Effect 3: February 14, 2012.

The Mass Effect 3 demo will allow players to test out the game’s highly explosive opening featuring a fullscale Reaper invasion of earth. In addition, you’ll also be able to dabble in the game’s cooperative multiplayer experience, a first for the Mass Effect franchise. Finally, the Mass Effect 3 demo will support Kinect functionality, giving you a chance to experience how it feels to bark orders at your squadmates before the full game launches on March 6, 2012.

“We are excited to be able to give gamers an expansive demo that will put them right on the front lines of this all-out galactic war,” said Casey Hudson, Executive Producer of the Mass Effect series. “The entire scale of the game is bigger than anything we’ve ever done. With its intense action, deep customization and raw emotional power, Mass Effect 3 will deliver a spectacular action RPG experience to fans of the series and newcomers alike.”

Lastly, don’t forget: by downloading and playing the Mass Effect 3 demo, you’ll unlock in-game items for the full, retail release of EA Games’ other big title releasing in the coming months, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. Likewise, the demo for Reckoning, which is available now, unlocks items for the full game of Mass Effect 3, so be sure to download it!

Mass Effect 3 launches on March 6th for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC. You will be able to download the demo on February 14th on your platform of choice.
