Capcom announced today that Resident Evil 6 is in development for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 with a planned launch date of November 20, 2012. A PC version is also planned, but for a later, undisclosed date.
The game will be a blend of horror and action, much like how thing were handled with Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5. Speaking of Resident Evil 4 and 5, Resident Evil 6 will star franchise regulars Leon S. Kennedy and Chris "Muscles McGee" Redfield in an adventure that takes place 10 years after the events of the Raccoon City incident and pits our heroes against a President of the United States turned zombie and a viral outbreak in China.
“Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series,” commented Katsuhiko Ichii, Head of R&D and Global Marketing. “The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.”
Lastly, here is the game’s debut trailer, as well as a promo piece sent over by Capcom.
