The fairies are returning to "True Blood," whether you want them to or not.
E Online is reporting that British actor Giles Matthey has signed on to recur as Claude during the fifth season of "True Blood." While "True Blood" has been known to wildly deviate from the source material of novelist Charlaine Harris' "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" series; Claude will still be a fairy in the TV show. In fact, Claude briefly appeared in the fourth season premiere of "True Blood" (as portrayed by Neil Hopkins) when he helped Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and her grandfather to escape from the fairy realm.
According to E, Claude will make his "True Blood" return via Matthey in the third episode of the fifth season, where he will arrive in Bon Temps and set his sights on Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll). In what may be a departure from the novels, Claude is described as "omni-sexual;" whereas he was originally portrayed as a gay character. It's also unclear if this incarnation of Claude will still be a distant cousin of Sookie.
Aside from a recent episode of "The Good Wife," Matthey doesn't appear to have any other major acting credits to his name. Regardless, Matthey is one of several actors joining "True Blood" this season, including Chris Meloni ("Law & Order: Special Victims Unit"), Christopher Heyerdahl ("Hell on Wheels"), Kelly Overton ("The Ring Two"), Louis Herthum ("The Last Exorsism"), Lucy Griffiths ("Robin Hood") and Valentina Cervi ("Zen").
"True Blood" season five will debut this summer on HBO.
