When last we heard from Evangeline Lilly on the subject of The Hobbit, she was speaking Elvish. We really appreciated it, but she didn't say much about who she's playing, since it's not a familiar character from the books. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly about the DVD/Blu-ray release of Real Steel, she finally opened up a bit more her character, Tauriel.
"She’s actually the head of the Elven guard. She’s the big shot in the army. So she knows how to wield any weapon, but the primary weapons that she uses are a bow and arrow and two daggers. And she’s lethal and deadly. You definitely wouldn’t want to be caught in a dark alley next to Tauriel."
But how much Lilly can we expect in the first film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey? Well, she revealed that too.
"She’s not in the first film very much. She comes into the first film near the end, and has a very small part to play. Her role in the second film is much more involved. Although, I have to say, when I first read the scripts and took the job, she had a lot less going on in the second film."
We still have to wait until December to see Peter Jackson's adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's first classic fantasy novel, but at least we have a bunch of teasers to tide us over until then. Click on over to Entertainment Weekly to read the rest of their great interview with the Lost star about Real Steel, Real Steel 2 and The Hobbit.
CraveOnline will be back with more Hobbit news as we see what lies ahead…
