Jason O’Mara Offers Suggestions For ‘Terra Nova’ Season 2

The star of Fox's sci-fi series would like to see a few changes... if it returns for another season.

While the first season finale of "Terra Nova" offered hope that Jim Shannon (Jason O'Mara) and his family could retain their life in the prehistoric past free of the corrupting influences from the future, the fate of "Terra Nova" on TV is far less certain. All that is currently known is that Fox will have to make a decision soon if it wants to get new episodes ready by next fall.

However, Jason O'Mara doesn't seem to have given up on "Terra Nova." And while speaking to TVLine, O'Mara made some pointed suggestions for what he would like to see happen if the series continues.

“When we use dinosaurs, I really hope they’re completely kick-ass dinosaurs — no half-hearted dinosaurs,” related O’Mara. “Maybe it’s better to have a totally awesome dinosaur in [just] one episode, rather than seeing a dinosaur every episode that isn’t quite there.”

According to the report, O'Mara also expressed his desire to see “a really bad, bad, bad guy” enter the series and become the major villain of the show. O'Mara noted that ”we need to find out who the baddest dude is and bring him into our story,” before suggesting James Earl Jones for the part.  And despite the destruction of Hope Plaza, O'Mara also indicated a desire to revisit the 2149 setting in future episodes.

During the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Fox President Kevin Reilly indicated that a decision about the fate of "Terra Nova" had not yet been made. However, the network kept its options open last December when it was said to be close to finishing negotiations with O'Mara and his costar, Stephen Lang to extend their contracts so that they would still be available if the series is picked up.

At the time, a "Terra Nova" renewal seemed fairly likely. But at the moment, it's anyone's guess which way Fox is going to go on the show.
